摘要:This article argues that the culture in which an abused boy grows has an influence on whether or not he will become a violent husband. The life story of an Andean young man who has been victim and perpetrator of domestic violence is analysed. It is shown how he uses several narrative schemes in order to socially organize the communication of emotions. Narrative analysis reveals that the denial of sympathy is a condition of learning violence. It also uncovers the double-bond situation created by two contradictory cultural injunctions: "In order to defend his mother, he must confront his father, whom he should respect". In this case, early learning of family violence influences responses to contradictory demands in the family environment.
