摘要:This article considers the teaching of reading when its objective is to
develop readers’ ability to reach layers of meanings that are beneath the
surface of the text. I argue that Portuguese teachers not only need to show
solid knowledge and background of theory and methods based on text
linguistics and discourse analysis, but also need to conduct their teaching
practice in such a way as to deconstruct fixed beliefs and ideas that learners
hold concerning the experience of reading at school.
