This paper presents a discussion of Freudian psychoanalytic theory, especially the concepts of infantile sexuality and narcissism, and the results of scientific partial research on emotional experiences of couples who underwent in vitro fertilization using donor eggs, aiming to understand the emotional aspects of these couples within the framework of psychoanalysis. This literature review concluded that the inability to produce a biological child by the mother, due to the use of donated eggs through the technique of IVF, may result in emotional conflicts, agonizing fantasies of narcissistic fragility and incompleteness among couples.
