This article discusses the contribution of ethnography and oral history for the studies in the history of psychology. Ethnography and oral history are not technical, but qualitative research methods relevant to historical studies in psychology. Ethnography, derived from the social sciences, currently contributes to research in psychology, and oral history used in the historiography, it is important for the advancement of research in the history of psychology. It describes the differences in methodology of qualitative research and aspects of ethnography and oral history, showing their similarities, differences and the importance of these methods for contemporary research in psychology.
