The aim of this study was to characterize risks and preventions behaviors, knowledge and beliefs about health and care, considering aspects of male vulnerability, for men of different ages groups in Florianópolis/SC and Goiânia/GO. This study is multicenter exploratory, descriptive and comparative, of the data collection type. Questionnaires semi-structured was used and self-administrated in collective situation. The answers were analyzed into descriptive and relational statistics, the open questions and free recall were analyzed using descending hierarchical classification, correspondence and lexical analysis, respectively. The results show that for men it is important to maintain healthy habits (to take care of the diet and physical activity), nevertheless the practice does not keep the same position, and in Goiania, this dissonance is most obvious. For the participants, especially adolescents, youth is presented as a protection, so that this man does not need to take care of himself and may fell omnipotent. Between the cities of Goiânia and Florianópolis, there were more approximations than distances onto the results, but among the age groups the differences were substantial. It can be concluded that the male health promotion actions must consider the male social networks, especially the family.
