摘要：This paper studies two linguistic constructions in Finnish, the go-say construction and the come-say construction. Both constructions contain a motion verb and a speech act verb in the 3rd infinitive illative case. The article focuses specifically on how the constructions express a speaker‘s or writer‘s affective stance. The analysis in this paper is inter-linguistic and it relies on the theories and methods used in corpus linguistics, interactional linguistics and cognitive semantics. This paper analyses, describes and explains the collocational, social and cognitive motivations behind the affective meanings of these constructions. Finally, it discusses the benefits and challenges of combining three different linguistic theories and methodologies in the analysis of a linguistic construction.
