摘要:The unilateral disengagement from Gaza Strip in the summer of 2005 is different from other events taking place in the Middle East in being an unliterary act carried out by Israel, as part of an organized and conceived plan of the government. The plan to evict all Israelis and military bases was perfectly executed attributing an essential part of its success to the management of a comprehensive and focused media campaign by the IDF (Israel Defense Forces). The article examines the impact of media coverage on the issue of national security, one of the cornerstones of Israel's very existence, and concentrates on the IDF media campaign throughout the process of the disengagement. The new policy of opening up to the media was implemented based on the understanding of the government that an organized media campaign can play a major role in the success of the military operation.
