摘要:In an attempt to further investigate collegiate athletes’ quality of life a 15-item Athlete Life Quality Scale (ALQS) was developed and administered to 159 Division I collegiate athletes. Principal components factor analysis was used to initially identify factors relating to athletes’ quality of life and then varimax orthogonal rotation was performed to further simplify those factors. The analysis identified five factors relating to athletes’ life quality which accounted for 65.3% of the variance. The factors included: general life satisfaction, physical satisfaction, team/sport satisfaction, primary social satisfaction, and recovery/social satisfaction. Additionally, a reliability analysis using Cronbach’s alpha revealed an overall scale alpha of .83. Implications for the use of the ALQS with collegiate athletes are discussed.
