摘要：The design of iTOF, a strip RPC based time-of-flight detector dedicated to measure relativistic heavy ions, is presented here. The proposed design includes innovative solutions, as the selfsupported RPC concept, which solves the specific needs of working with heavy ions. The proposal is based on the results of the intense previous R&D program undertaken by our group to build and test prototypes with ion beams. The project is developed within the frame of the R3B-FAIR activities.
