摘要：Gold Fields manages two mining operations in Tarkwa and Damang in the Western Region of Ghana with some aspects of their operations outsourced to contractors or service providers. The main objectives of this paper are to investigate the factors that promote contracting out mining operations at Gold Fields Ghana Limited (GFGL), outline some of the benefits of contract mining, identify some of the challenges and offer recommendations to address the challenges. Descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. A Likert-scale structured questionnaire was used for the data collection. In all 87 samples were obtained from management level of GFGL and contracting firms. The study reveals very strong factors promote contract mining at GFGL. The benefits are mutual and the challenges are surmountable. It is recommended that GFGL should form strategic partnership with their contractors for long term gains. Full Text
