摘要：In this work, we analyse the patterns of growth in Central America during the 90s and identify the fundamental elements which show a divergence with respect to the previously followed pattern. Special emphasis is put on examining the relationship between the form of external insertion and the change in the activity rate. An important conclusion in this sense is that, for the region, obtaining a highly sustainable development demands implementing a strategy to strengthen the linking of exports with the rest of the production system.
