摘要:This paper looks at the current language classroom in the Saudi context which tends to be teacher-centred and structured rather than learner-oriented and communicative. It accounts for some of the challenges teachers and learners are likely to encounter. It also views the concept of collaborative learning from a Vygotskyain point of view to act as an alternative approach capable of solving some reported difficulties including communicative aspects. I propose possible modifications to a traditional Saudi class to inspire participation from students based on previous research and the distinctive requirements of the context in question.
