摘要：The rooster is, after the dove and the owl, the most represented bird in Picassoʹs work and, as in these two other cases, the rooster possesses symbolic values very similar to those assigned by tradition. In this paper we use mainly literary sources to review the symbolism of this iconic bird from Classical Antiquity, through the Christian world, until the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
