摘要:Nowadays, a degree of contamination by heavy metals can be observed in the environment. Heavy metals have serious effects on all living organisms because they can be accumulated at lethal or sub-lethal concentrations in the various parts of food chain and, therefore, can cause different health problems, like cardiovascular and cancer diseases. This work is focused on the rate of mercury contamination in agricultural plants from specific area of the Hont region – alluvium of the .tiavnica River. Soils in alluvium of .tiavnica are strongly contaminated by heavy metals due to hundreds year mine activities in the region of Banská .tiavnica. The mobile forms of risky elements easily pass through to the plants growing on contaminated soils. The plant samples (cereals and forage plants) were collected from alluvial soils in the years 2006-2007 and mercury content was analyzed by AAS using an AMA254 mercury analyzer. We expected increased mercury contents in the analyzed plant samples, because mercury concentrations in a half of soil samples were increased. But the results show, that only one sample of forage plants and none of cereal samples had over limit concentration of mercury. Agricultural plant products collected in alluvium of the .tiavnica River in the Hont region are not contaminated by mercury and they are safe for further utilicontamination, mercury, region Hont, agricultural plants, soil, AASzatioNowadays, a degree of contamination by heavy metals can be observed in the environment.
