摘要:The aim of this investigation was to determine whether pupils could be classified into groups based on their leisure activities and to study the relationship between leisure activities and coping strategies that pupils use when confronted with academic stress. The School Failure Coping Scale and Leisure Time Activities Questionnaire were administrated to 455 elementary school and high school pupils. A cluster analysis, used to classify pupils based on their responses to the Leisure Time Activities Questionnaire, suggested four interpretable clusters. The first cluster consists of pupils who spend most of their leisure time going out and having fun. They are older pupils with low school grades and low scores on the problem solving coping scale. The second cluster consists of pupils who have low scores on all leisure activities. They are younger pupils with better school grades and low scores on the social support and forgetting coping scales. The third cluster consists of pupils who read books and go to the theater during their leisure time. They are older pupils with average grades, high scores on the social support coping scale and low scores on the forgetting coping scale. The fourth cluster consists of pupils who are least likely to engage in socially undesirable forms of relaxation and spend most of their leisure time in different sport activities. They are the youngest pupils with best school grades and high scores on all the coping scales except the emotional reactions coping scale.
