摘要:The aim of the research was to compare mathematically talented and average pupils of fourth-grade elementary schools according to the following conative and emotional characteristics: motivation for studying mathematics, situational interest for studying mathematics during lessons, mathematical anxiety, self-esteem connected to school achievement and attribution of success and failure in mathematics. The group of pupils talented for mathematics (N-31) was identified according to the assessment of teachers, their results in the Standard Progressive Matrixes and Numerical Test from the B-series, as well as the results in the Knowledge Test in Mathematics. The second group of children consisted of pupils with average abilities from three c1asses in which there were no mathematically talented children (N-85). The results obtained indicate that the following variables differentiate best the two groups of children: the attribution of "success" to motivation, activity and of external factors to intrinsic orientation, the attribution of "failure" to personal abilities and characteristics and of external factors to mathematical anxiety.
