摘要：The problem of measuring performance of nonprofit organizations presents a significant challenge both to the practicing nonprofit managers, as well as to the researchers interested in this specific issue. Usage of (modified) tools from the profit sector represents one of the viable alternatives, although the nonprofit performance should also take into consideration the ‘social’ success of the nonprofit. One of the possible approaches to measuring performance of nonprofit organizations is related to the self-assessment methodology, which can be cross-checked by using the user/primary target group orientation measure(s) as control variable(s). In this paper, authors demonstrate the application of such a performance assessment methodology on a large sample of Croatian elementary schools managers. Some primary findings indicate that these variables are negatively correlated for the case of Croatian elementary schools, which might be interpreted in terms of management practices being used in a counterproductive manner. Such a situation requires both further research and, most likely, additional education in the fields of nonprofit management and marketing within the educational sector.
