摘要：The paper deals with the natural demographic trends in the Roma population in the case of a Roma settlement, Kuršanec, in the Međimurje County in the 2000-2008 period. Previous demographic development of the Roma population is determined by the peculiarities of the socio-economic, cultural and psychological conditions in which the Roma community lives. High fertility rates are the most prominent demographic feature of the Roma population, which are showing a decreasing trend. The value of the mortality rate is very low, which is mostly a consequence of the high proportion of young population. Natural growth rates also have a slowly decreasing trend, but their values are still very high and indicate a significant natural increase in population. Characteristics of the natural demographic trends of the Roma population settled in Kuršanec are comparable to societies in transition from the early to central stage of demographic transition.
