摘要:The goals of this study were to determine the difference in peak torque and total work values between legs preferred and not preferred by first and second league Croatian soccer players, and to use these results to draw attention to the shortcomings of peak torque and total work ratios as indicators of a potential higher injury risk. The study was conducted at the Centre for Kinesiological Diagnostics and Rehabilitation in Daruvarske Toplice, Croatia from 2003 to 2007. The sample of examinees consisted of 30 healthy first and second league Croatian soccer players. The differences were tested and evaluated based on peak torque (Nm) and total work (J) values produced through six combined repetitions extending and flexing the preferred and non-preferred lower legs by 90 and 150 deg/sec. on a Biodex System 3 isokinetic machine. A statistically significant difference between the peak torque variables of the preferred (PTED90 and PTED150) and non-preferred (PTEN90 and PTEN150) legs was detected; indeed, the peak torque value of the leg preferred by each soccer player was higher than the value of the non-preferred leg. A comparison of flexion movements revealed no differences either in peak torque or in total work values between the preferred and non-preferred legs. However, an analysis of differences in total work by extension movements demonstrated that a statistically significant difference was achieved only at the angle speed of 150 deg/sec. In contrast, the test conducted at a speed of 90 deg/sec. showed no statistical difference.
