摘要：The author discusses the concepts of language and communication ability and a few with them connected synonyms, such as ability and skill, language adoption and learning. There is a short review of the development of the concept communication competence and of the Croatian replacement for this loan-word. These examples suggest the necessity of the existence of synonyms and their role in the terminology.
