摘要:The primary objective of the article is to evaluate teaching effi ciency within the course »Social gerontology« related to the development of students’ sensitivity to the problem of violence towards elderly members of the family. The secondary objective is to show the possibilities of evaluation of certain teaching forms in achieving expected education outcomes and to encourage similar studies in the field of teaching effi ciency within the social work study programme. The participants in the study were third year students at the Social Work Study Centre (N=91). They were divided in two groups: a) students who only attended the lectures within the course »Social gerontology« and b) students who also attended a seminar within the course »Social gerontology« and studied more in detail the subject of violence toward the elderly after having attended the lectures. The results suggest that in the beginning of the class the two groups of students did not diff er greatly as far as the level of senzibilization is concerned. Both groups initially showed a high level of senzibilization for violence towards the elderly. During classes, a statistically signifi cant increase in the level of senzibilization occurred in students who only attended lectures on violence towards the elderly, but not in students who worked on the subject more in detail during the seminar. The research demonstrates a need to systematically evaluate not only the teaching process but its outcomes as well, in order to better balance certain teaching forms and achieve expected education outcomes.
