摘要：In the paper the author presents certain attempts at defining social work as a profession, and some elements relevant to building a professional relationship within a profession such as social work. The problem of professional competence and some ideas on the relation between loyalty to the profession and loyalty to the institution have been presented, all in the context of reviewing the identity of the social work profession.
