摘要：The society has high expectations regarding teachers and educators as the primary holders of the educational process. However, there are not enough investments in their professional growth, as well as working conditions. Although demanding and difficult, their professions have been underestimated materially and in status for a long period of time, as proven in numerous surveys in Croatia and abroad. The aim of this research was to test how do the Teachers' Studies’ and Pre-school Studies’ students of The University of Split comprehend some aspects of their future professions, like social status and desirable characteristics of a teacher and educator. The results have shown that students have a realistic picture regarding the social perception of their future professions, as well as that there is a need to further inform them about the importance of the profession they are about to practice. This should be started during their studies, in order to upgrade both professions.
