摘要:The inevitable computerisation and automation of the shipboard propulsion system have given rise to an increasing number of possibilities of improvements in its operation. This is the area in which the expert system has made an enormous impact upon the further employment of computers aboard the ship. By eliminating the camshaft and replacing it with a high-pressure variable injection time pump (VIT) an optimum injection time in a variety of operating modes has been achieved. A further advantage of VIT pump is that various parameters can be easily adjusted during engine operation, e.g. time of injection, gradual injection, etc., seeking thereby an optimum injection mode. The paper deals with a conceptual solution concerning with the VIT pump operation by means of expert system, aimed at determining an optimum angle of fuel injection. The results of simulation hereby presented clearly justify the employment of such a system aboard the ship.
