  • 摘要:SUMMARY: Zakon o zaštiti zraka, N.N., broj 178/2004. Smog, together with sulphur dioxide, is as a product of combustion present in the air of every settlement and can be counted as a generally present pollutant in inhabited zones. Smog is commonly known as a collection of fine solid and/or liquid particles, in sizes varying from several microns produced in the course of incomplete combustion and gathered in small air volumes. The sample size is so small that it can not be determined gravimetrically but optically and that is why it is of extreme importance that mass concentration of smog is not confused with mass concentration of suspended particles. The paper presents the importance and shortcomings of smog measuring in a given area. Also presented is a historical overview of smog measuring in Zagreb, the trends in the measured concentrations over the years and categorisation of the city neighbourhoods with respect to the degree of air pollution done on the basis of the Air Protection Act and Decree on Recommended Air Quality Limit Values.
