摘要:The practice of American Studies in Portugal evolved out of a philological tradition that might be seen in all of the courses taught at the five public Universities (Lisbon – Classic and New, Oporto, Coimbra, and Aveiro) and at the semi-private Catholic University until the Revolution of 1974. The following decade opened up new opportunities for the expansion of the field with the establishment of a few other public universities around the country (Évora, Minho, Algarve, Beira Interior, Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, Open University, Madeira and Azores) as well as several private institutions.
