This article aims to present the experience of the creation and development of the “The Virtual Health Library - History and Cultural Heritage of Health” (VHL HCHS), a social network on scientific and technological information in health, formed by technical cooperation among institutions and individuals from Latin America and Caribe. Initially it presents the model "Virtual Health Library (VHL)" developed by the Center of Latin American and Caribbean Information in Health Sciences - BIREME/PAHO/WHO, composed by three distinct dimensions: Social Networking, Information Network and Learning Environments. In a wider context, reflects the dynamics of networking. Concerning the BVS HPCs, describes the profile of its members and the concept of the sources of information and, finally, the space of its Virtual Community.
