摘要：This article intends to depict the reality of the city of Boa Vista as an isolated place between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries. Until then, the city appeared – or was exhibited – to the world through the view of explorers and researchers, who described the place when visiting it. It was the place of contact with the “urban” for the first inhabitants who were committed to cattle breeding and to mine prospecting; the urban in the infinite Amazon in its transition to the “ploughed land”, the only one after Manaus for the ones who searched the North towards Venezuela and Guyana, or the first one for the ones who came from such countries.
