摘要:The cultivation of genetically modified organisms, commonly known as transgenics, has increased since its approval for commercial purposes in 1994. Nicaragua does not have import restrictions on these seeds and food products. Nevertheless, in light of the commercial interchange with transgenic producing countries, it has been suggested that established import regulations have not been respected. The Center for Molecular Biology of the Universidad Centroamericana carried out a study using random samplings of rice, soy and maize found in main sale points within the country, to test for the presence of transgenic material. We analyzed the samples by means of two methods commonly used in molecular diagnostics laboratories: immunologic tests, and detection in DNA of 35S promoter and NOS terminator. Here we present the results of our investigation and report that during the period of study, no transgenic seeds were found in Nicaragua.wA{爓8{
