摘要：This article presents a summarized overlook of the main theoretical stances on the phenomenon of citizen participation. It starts by defining the concepts “citizenship” and “participation” from different disciplinary perspectives. The second section illustrates the debate regarding the factors that condition citizen participation. Its aim is to facilitate the focalization of actions directed to the construction of citizenship, and the analysis of experiences on citizen participation. The third section presents the main typologies on the subject of participation, which provide variables and indicators that can be used to analyze and assess different citizen dynamics and organizations. This conceptual article has a didactical character and aims to contribute to strengthen research and interventions carried on regarding different aspects and subjects of citizen participation in Nicaragua.
