摘要：The article presents a critical review of the defining elements of the Rational Choice Institutionalism and Historical Institutionalism. Therefore, after contextualizing the emergence of the New Institutionalism in American social thought at the end of the sixties, the article details the methodological elements dear to each of the lines of thought. In this effort are raised qualifications to their methodological approaches. The article presents itself as a possible initial access to the New Institutionalism to those who are directing their research to this field of Social Sciences.try.i
