摘要:In order to experimentally reduce knee ROM during bicycle ergometer, we prepared the ergometer with a shorter crank (12.5 cm) and ordered 6 healthy male subjects to pedal with their heels. Knee ROM was laterally analyzed by VTR and compared the results with that during conventional bicycle ergometer. VO2, HR, SBP, and RPE were also measured to examine a change in mechanical efficiency of the modified bicycle ergometer. Knee flexion angle was reduced in this order; during normal crank pedaling, normal crank pedaling with the heel, shorter crank pedaling, and shorter crank pedaling with the heel. The smallest angle at which subjects were allowed to pedal was 80 - 90 degrees. There was no difference in physiological response between normal crank pedaling and shorter crank pedaling with the heel, to the stress extent of 60% Peak V02.
