摘要:Referring to reports of other investigators and results of the experiment made by the authors, this report described how the use of handrail affects the physiological response of the subjects during treadmill exercise stress test. It was reported that handrail support indicated less energy consumption and longer exercise duration compared with non handrail support . Errors between the actual and the estimated values of the energy consumption are considered to depend partly on the use of handrail. Treadmill exercise stress test conducted by the authors revealed that the use of handrail had a greater effect on oxygen uptake with increasing the gradient of tredmill. And that oxygen uptake tended to be lower when the handrails were used for bilateral support than used for unilateral support. This report also introduced several definite methods for measuring physiological response of the subject which can minimize the effect of handrail support.
