摘要:In order to elucidate physical condition of hemiplegic patients during walking at the optimal speed, 23 stroke patients (average age; 57.4±12.7 year-old, LMA; 34.9±19.6 months) were instructed to do 5-minute level walking with a free use of their equipments. The average oxygen consumption during level walking was not influenced by walking speed, cadence, and LMA. Converting the oxygen consumption into METS, patients showed the almost same value (3.00±0.85 ml/kg/min) as that of healthy subject, which suggests that patients had walked at their optimal speed during the trial. Energy efficiency during walking, a walking distance per unit oxygen consumption, was 5.20±3.27 m/ml/kg, having a significant correlation with LMA. These results suggest that energy efficiency may play an important role in evaluating ambulation of the patient who receives walking exercise at the optimal speed.
