摘要：This article aims to understand some aspects of the process of incorporation of football by the popular cultural practices, like the newspapers notes with titles like: "Football de Vadios" and "Foot-ball de Garotos" referring to the football played by popular groups. Through sports notes, we seek to also identify the areas that were daily invented and/or (re)interpreted by popular groups. From the study of the relationship between football and those groups it was possible to deconstruct the idea that this sport emerged between the elites and then spread among the popular layers. Finally, the intent of this article was to emphasize that the introduction of football in Salvador occurred in multiple forms and the popular layers, as well as the elites, were protagonists in this process.
