摘要：The process of modernization of Brazilian cities, which occurred between the last quarter of the nineteenth century and the first decades of the twentieth century was a move typical of these years and kept direct relationships with the identification of bodily practices as habits to be learned and practiced. Inserted in this context of modernity, this paper was to analyze the development of football in Juiz de Fora, more precisely in the interval between 1894 and 1915. As based on the analysis Pharol peeled and Jornal do Commercio, major local newspapers, as well as contributions from other authors, seek to understand the role played by football in the development of bodily practices in the Manchester from Minas Gerais
