摘要：We intend to investigate the process of formation of the football culture at Salvador in the period from 1901 to 1920. The football arrived in Bahia through young bourgeois who studied in England’s college, country where the modern football appeared. Between 1901-12 it is initiated the formation of a bourgeois football culture, through the appearance of clubs as Vitória and the Liga Bahiana de Desportos Terrestres, instrument of sociabilities of the bahian elites. However, Salvador also sees the appearance of a popular football culture, represented by own practices, constituted by subalterns groups. This culture finds more expression between 1912-20, period of the existence of Liga Brasileira de Desportos Terrestres, that was represented the practices of the football by blacks
