摘要:16 To 25 July 2007, A Canicular Period In Romania. During the examined period, the advection of tropical air from the northern part of the African continent determined the occurrence of high maximum temperatures, surpassing the absolute records of the month of July, with the extremes reaching up to 44.3 ºC in the South-West of Romania. Because of the high temperatures and the existing humidity, the values of the heat index surpassed, for most of the country, the critical threshold, causing a state of discomfort. The severe weather from the analyzed period had negative effects on the general health state of the population, on the economic activities (particularly in the industry and the transportation), as well as on the environment (frequent vegetation fires).
