摘要：O artigo trabalha o perfil social dos oficiais da Câmara de Porto Alegre entre os anos de 1767 e 1828, comparando-o ao das instituições de outras vilas e cidades. Nota-se a crescente participação de homens de negócio nos diversos conselhos de norte a sul da América portuguesa ao longo do século XVIII. Analisa as práticas de recrutamento social que permitem a reprodução do grupo de vereadores desde o período colonial até o Brasil independente. A comparação com outras vilas permite distinguir entre singularidades locais e características próprias à instituição dentro da monarquia portuguesa.
其他摘要：The article analyzes the social profile of officers of the Municipal Council of Porto Alegre between the years 1767 and 1828, comparing it to the institutions of other towns and cities. Note the increasing participation of businessmen in the various councils north and south of Portuguese America during the eighteenth century. It analyzes the social recruitment practices that allow there production of the group of councilors from the colonial period to the independent Brazil. The comparison with other villages distinguishes between local peculiarities and characteristics within the institution of the Portuguese monarchy
