摘要：As a consequence of the advances in software technology and the expansion of the Internet, the number of patent applications in the area of software-related inventions has increased rapidly over the last few years. Software patents, including business methods patents and Internet related patents, have become the focus of controversy among the software industry and IP practitioners. The heart of this debate relates to the issue of resolving the competing interests between inventors desiring incentive for their innovations and competitors wanting unhindered use of patented software. In the meantime, many software patents have been granted by major patent offices, and some of them led to lawsuits over the infringement of those patents.
