摘要:Challenging behaviors in children have become more prevalent in rural schools. Conduct Disorder (CD) is one of the severe mental disorders ounselors, school administrators, and parents often have to deal with. However, most teachers working in remote and rural areas have minimal access to resources and experienced support in dealing with these students. With mental health resources severely limited in rural areas, it behooves the rural school counselor and teacher to learn to identify these students at an early age. Teachers and counselors can then adjust the classroom environment to help reduce negative outcomes that CD can create and to better manage the classroom environment. This paper examines the need to proactively address conduct disorders in rural schools. Attention will be given to a review of the literature, identification of Conduct Disorder, and discussion of potential and proactive measures to confront the disorder in school-aged children.
