摘要：O presente trabalho pretende avaliar a descrição que Flávio Josefo faz, principalmente na Guerra Judaica (GJ), dos principais grupos sócio-religiosos em actividade durante a Guerra Judaica (66-74 d.C.), procurando elucidar o modo como política, utopia e sectarismo religioso se manifestam quer nas práticas e valores que caracterizam esses grupos, quer na própria atenção que Josefo lhes reserva. A natureza historiográfica do discurso joséfico em GJ, os seus interesses cognitivos específicos, orientados para a ilibação do povo judaico das responsabilidades da guerra e para a aproximação dos grupos judaicos às escolas filosóficas greco-romanas, e a forma expectavelmente descritiva de GJ II.119-166, mas também de Antiguidades Judaicas XVIII.11-25, não deixam entrever facilmente traços de utopia. No entanto, é na descrição dos Essénios e dos Zelotas que utopia e distopia tenuemente emergem: nos primeiros, pelo modelo de virtude e piedade insuperável e pelas suas concepções escatológicas; nos segundos, pela sua conduta abominável e catastrófica, aos olhos de Josefo, mas também pelo seu ideal de implementação do governo de Deus (teocracia).
其他摘要：With this work, we intend to assess the way Flavius Josephus describes the main Jewish groups active during the Jewish War (66-74 C.E.), according to his homonymous book Bellum Iudaicum (BJ). Using BJ II.119-166 as the chief account, but also exploring the data presented by Josephus throughout BJ and the Antiquitates Iudaicae (AJ), we intend to shed light on the relationship between politics, utopia, and sectarianism not only in the values and practices ascribed to those groups, but also in the very attention Josephus gives them. The historical nature of Josephus’ account, his cognitive purposes (rehabilitating Jews image in the eyes of Roman imperial authorities and elites), and the rather dry portrayal he offers on BJ and AJ, make it difficult to identify conspicuous signs of utopia in Josephus’ depiction of the Jewish groups. However, it in its description of the Essenes and Zealots that utopia and dystopia vaguely come into sight: in the former, by their paradigmatic rightfulness and piety, and their eschatology; in the later, by their abominable and catastrophic behavior in the eyes of Josephus, as well as by their ideal implementation of the rule of God on Earth (Theocracy).
