摘要:The aim of this article is to emphasize the determinants, which explain the international trade relationships of Romania, applying international trade theories in the transition economic context, fi rst phase of integration process, which ended once with the adhesion of Romania, from 1 January 2007. The volume of the international trade relationships of Romania with the 15th countries members of the European Union (EU-15) in 2004 represented 65, 5%1 of the entire external trade. A sample of these countries is representative, considering that the most important component of adhesion negotiations where carried out with EU – 15, even if in the moment of Romanian adhesion, EU included 25 member countries, as a result of 2004 extension. Taking into consideration the process of European integration, it is important to be known in which conditions the trade exchanges grows, but also the type of trade that is being developed looking at it in the convergence perspective, an important goal of the new country member. In order to have these answers, the gravity model of trade fl ows was approached as a method of statistical analysis. The results obtained suggest the fact that the exchanges of Romania with the EU 15 are still complementary and they grow, due the existence of the difference of factorial endowment between partners.
