摘要：This work has been generated by the author’s admiration for the remarkable tradition of our great national institution of statistics and for the especial scientifi c level of the Romanian school of statistics too. The paper focuses on the most important instruments and outstanding statisticians in the large area of prices evaluations and prices dynamics, exploring the history of national statistics of index constructions. It fi rst identifi es three signifi cant moments that seek to explain our national excellent tradition in prices analysis during the last 150 years. Second, this article describes some important instruments in Romanian statistical prices analysis, called Argus, Georgescu-Roegen and Dumitrescu’s prices indices. A fi nal remark concludes the paper with an optimistic idea. Even contemporary statistical prices indices are harmonised in the unique European construction of HPCI, the author thinks that a traditional index that could reunite the most sustainable index construction of Romanian Statistics, and restores confi dence in the traditional originality of the national statistics.
