摘要:The purpose of this paper is to evaluate four firearm-reduction strategies by looking at the scientific rigor of the evaluations and the pre and post effects on crime. Methodologically, this is an evaluation research that focuses primarily on evaluating the effectiveness in terms of what works, what does not work, and what’s promising among different crime prevention strategies in the area of targeted policing. The evaluation of these crime prevention strategies was done using the Maryland Scientific Method Scale (SMS). The results of this evaluation study show that firearm-related strategies are effective but they have short-term effect on crime. In other words, crime returns once the strategy is removed from its implementation.
