  • 摘要:The development of a repository system is a valuable solution that can assure the preservation of geological information and would provide a more sustainable tool for future references. This research attempted to establish on how geological information could be modeled into various forms of digital object (DO) to enable access and sharing of geological information. The main objective of this research was to provide a sustainable and maintainable repository system that would preserve geological data in an efficient manner. In this effort, the Langkawi Geodiversity data will be captured, modeled and kept in a single repository system. Samples were collected from Langkawi geoparks and analysed in order to understand the complexity of the information needed as well as their relationships. The DO structure and definition were formulated based on the collected samples and tested to a certain level of optimization. With regard to toolset design and implementation, a commercial database engine was used to implement the development of the repository named as MyGeo-RS. The Langkawi geodiversity data was captured digitized and populated into the repository and was published. This paper presents the development of MyGeo-RS which includes the architecture, the design of geodiversity repository and the implementation. The preserved data provided by this system is suitable for tourism and public users and at the same time would also contribute to scientific applications.
