摘要：Color plays a significant role in the life of modern man. Background knowledge, i.e. the knowledge of realities and culture, which both the speaker and the listener possess, is the basic condition of communication. Comparative study of means of color designation in different languages is one of the traditional themes of linguistics. Color is objectified in language by the group of lexical units – color names, that’s why color designations attract attention of scientists, studying the mechanisms of world categorizing by man, which is one of the most extensively studied notions in different languages. This article is focused on phraseological units, containing the element of color designation in their semantics. The authors attempt to disclose the meanings of the most significant components of color spectrum of the Kazakh language, which are important phenomena, reflecting traditions and customs of the Turkic peoples.
