Constantinopolitan aristocracy of the XV century was, in the different ways and for the various reasons, attached to many of the city's monasteries and churches. The article is about two capital monasteries, St. John The Forerunner in Petra and Christ Philanthropos Soter, and the connection of the illustrious families of Lascaris Leontares and Asanes/Philanthropenos to them. Two epitaphs, composed by John Eugenikos for their ktetors, Demetrios Lascaris Leontares and Isaakios Asanes, shed more light on the matter.
