摘要:Increased consumers knowledge of beneficial phytochemicals present in plant food stimulates producers to, in addition to good market yield, grow vegetables with increased content of health benefit compounds. Mineral fertilization, among other agronomic practices, may influence the content of secondary metabolites. Therefore, we found interesting to study the influence of foliar fertilizer Fitolife (major component CaCO3) on the content of phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity in two different sweet potato cultivars Bat1 and Boniato. Mineral fertilization used in this study altered the content of phenolic compounds in two cultivars differently. After application of fertilizer Fitolife in Bat1 cultivar we found decreased of total phenolic acids while total flavonoid content was increased due to increase of kampferol, apigenin and quercetin. In Boniato no significant change in the content of total phenolic acids was observed while applied fertilizer Fitolife negatively affected the content of identified flavonoids myricetin and quercetin. These results may be useful for sweet potato producers to make informed decisions about Fitolife’s application. Sweet potato is relatively a new vegetable in our market, and especially leaves of sweet potato are not popular as vegetables at all. Information concerning the contents of phenolic compounds, and the antioxidant activity of sweet potato leaves, may increase the awareness of the food industry and consumers to use sweet potato greens as a functional food. Furthermore, for many private growers, this crop could provide a two-in-one cash crop, with economic benefits from the sale of both the leaves and the tubers
