摘要:DISCOVER Problem Matrix (DPM: Discover- ing Intellectual Strengths and Capabilities through Observation while for allowing Var- ied Ethnic Responses) is a problem continu- um model that can be used for developing and assessing problem solving skills in do- mains of ability and knowledge. The DMP includes six problem types from well- structured to ill-structured types. Because it is a problem continuum, more types can be added to the Model. A measurement in- strument was developed based on the re- vised Matrix and administered to 519 sev- enth and sixth grade students. The instru- ment was found to have a reliability coeffi- cient of .75. Statistically significant correla- tions were found between the problem types. The more distant two problem types are from each other, the lower the correlation between them, and the closer the problem types are to each other, the larger the correlations be- tween them, which is a fact that provides evidence for the validity of the Matrix. Fur- thermore, the new problem type added to the Matrix was found to have a good fit with the structure of the Matrix.
